Privacy Policy
Effective date: May 2026. Units Converter is built with privacy as a default — not as a setting you have to enable.
Our Privacy Commitment
Units Converter is operated under the principle that your conversion history is none of our business. Unlike most free web tools, we do not finance the site by selling user data, building behavioral profiles, or running targeted advertising. The site is funded through optional, non-tracking display advertising managed by Google AdSense (when enabled) — and even then, we never associate ad activity with specific user identities.
This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what data we collect, how it is used, who it is shared with, and what rights you have. We comply with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK Data Protection Act, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and Brazilian LGPD. Where these laws differ, we apply the strictest standard globally.
What We Collect
When you visit Units Converter, our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) automatically logs technical request data necessary to deliver the page and protect against abuse. This includes:
- IP address (truncated to /24 within 24 hours, then deleted within 7 days)
- User-agent string (browser type and version, operating system)
- Referring URL (the page that linked you here)
- Requested URL and HTTP response code
- Approximate geographic location (country level, derived from IP)
We do not collect: your name, email address (unless you contact us), phone number, payment data, biometric data, government IDs, behavioral profiles, or your conversion history. We do not run fingerprinting scripts. We do not use cross-site tracking cookies. We do not sell data to data brokers. Period.
Cookies and Local Storage
Units Converter uses only essential, first-party storage:
- Theme preference — if you toggle dark mode, we remember it via
localStorageon your device. This never leaves your browser. - Cloudflare security cookie — a single cookie used to mitigate denial-of-service attacks. Strictly necessary; cannot be disabled while browsing the site.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, or any third-party analytics tool that tracks individuals. If we ever add aggregated, privacy-respecting analytics (such as Plausible or Fathom), this policy will be updated and the change announced on the homepage at least 14 days in advance.
Third-Party Services
The only external services Units Converter integrates with are:
- Cloudflare Pages (hosting, security) — receives standard request logs as described above. Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Google Fonts (typography delivery) — Google may log the IP address and User-Agent that requests the Inter font file. Google privacy policy.
- Google AdSense (when ads are enabled) — used to display ads. AdSense uses cookies to limit ad frequency and detect fraud. You can opt out at Google Ads Settings.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws, you have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion — ask us to delete personal data (subject to legal exceptions).
- Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent — at any time, for any consent-based processing.
Because we collect very little personal data, most rights requests can be satisfied by clearing your browser storage. For anything more, email [email protected]; we will respond within 30 days as required by law.
Children's Privacy
Units Converter is suitable for all ages, including children, and is widely used in primary and secondary schools around the world. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in EU jurisdictions applying GDPR-K). If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it within 7 days.
Changes to This Policy
If we materially change how we collect or use data, we will update this page, change the effective date at the top, and post a notice on the homepage for at least 14 days. Continuing to use Units Converter after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
